Thyroid-S will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first NDT I tried, and it honestly changed my life. But is it as good in 2022 as it was in 2014?

So, what is Thyroid-S? And does it work?

Thyroid-S is a Desiccated Thyroid Extract (DTE) medication. It is made from the dried thyroid glands of pigs.

The active ingredient in Thyroid-S is Thyroid powder (USP), 60mg. This ingredient contains the following active substances for total thyroid support:

• 38 mcg thyroxine (T4)
• 9mcg liothyronine (T3)
• calcitonin
• T2
• T1

So, does it work? In my experience, YES! I credit Thyroid-S with saving my life. It completely changed my health for the better and turned my life around.

No, Thyroid-S does not contain aluminum. Some people claimed that the following inactive ingredients contain aluminum:

A Quick Wikipedia search shows that the above substances do not contain aluminum (Al). If you are worried about aluminum in food (as you absolutely should), make sure your baking powder does not have it (because often it does!).

How does Thyroid-S work, and what are the benefits of taking it regularly?

Thyroid-S results in increased wellness and reduced hypo symptoms compared to synthetic T4-only thyroid medication – levothyroxine (e.g., Synthroid).

Research suggests that up to 257% of people with hypothyroidism prefer natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) over levothyroxine (than the other way around). This is just one example of many.

The majority of hypothyroid women may feel more comfortable with Thyroid-S than just levothyroxine due to the T3 component.

One tablet of Thyroid-S contains 60mg (1 grain) of thyroid powder. In 2022 one bottle contains 500 tablets. The cost is around 399.99 USD, including shipping to the USA. The delivery price to the EU is a bit higher (around 399.99 Euro). If you need 2 grain a day, one bottle will last you around eight months. That makes Thyroid-S a lower-priced generic of Armour Thyroid.

5. How should I take Thyroid-S, and what is the recommended dosage?

The manufacturer recommends taking 30-250 mg of thyroid extract per day. One tablet contains 60 mg of thyroid extract.
The maximum recommended dose is 4,16 tablets per day (good luck precisely measuring that!).

Taking more than the recommended dose may increase the risk of side effects.
